most favorite team? I guess when you root for the A's and Raiders you need backups:)... do you even have an NBA backup since you like the Lakers?

I didn't watch much NBA postseason when the lakers were sucking after Shaq was gone. I'm loyal to the Lakers when they do suck.

I stay loyal no matter what. I don't root for any NFL team but the Chiefs, I don't root for any MLB team but the Royals. I think it's kind of stupid to quit rooting for a team just because they suck. Bandwagoners suck.

I'm not quitting on my A's. I just need to just root for the west coast.

Ummmm tough call on the one team only debate...
Now you should only be a diehard fan of one team in each sport. People that say they like 4 or 5 teams are ridiculous. However, you can have a casual interest in different teams. For example, I have a big interest in the Anaheim Angels as they own the Yankees. I root for them for that reason. However, I could care less if they lose ultimately. Roller, however, I think really roots hard for multiple teams. He definitely does in college sports. He definitely does in baseball. I don't know who else he likes in the NFL besides teams with PAC-10, non USC players. He is all Lakers because they are the NBA's best.
So I agree with Jasonhawks. One diehard team per sport. No Kige hearts LSU type fandem should exist. But you can have casual interest.

Ok Casual interest in the Packers and Bills for Aaron Rodgers and Trent Edwards reasons....
You know Oklahoma Sooner fans are Minnesota Vikings fans for Adrian Peterson right?
It's really hard not to like the Dodgers and A's for family reasons. When the Dodgers win, my family is alot happier when I see them. It's not like those two are rivals and play every year. I am ALL Sharks if you forgot that.. I didn't switch to the Ducks at all.
I don't root hard for any Pac-10 school when they play each other, unless it's UCLA. It's only when there is a non-conference game not regarding USC. Blame Les Miles and other idiot SEC fans for me being this way.
I started liking other colleges just because of their academics and I also found some of the traditions of fight songs/spirit etc... cool when I looked them up. I often root for the engineering schools around the nation when it is two "neutral" schools playing each other.
It's more that I like one team per conference.
Hard not to like Colorado in the big 12 since my cousin is there. I'm not bandwagoning them, after all they suck.
Virginia tech for ACC and Purdue for the big 10 are cool. I like the fact they are engineering schools.
I've only been raised to like the Lakers, not because they are the best, but as with the Dodgers, they are the family team. The Golden State Warriors aren't really an Oakland team in my opinion. Sure the building is in Oakland but they are really the "Bay Area Warriors" and the Bay is way too liberal for me to side with it. If my parents suffered the years when Red Auerbach owned the Lakers in the 60s, the Vlade Divac trade, Shaq being traded and Kwame Brown, I don't side with the Lakers because they're the best. I do not own any of that "We Believe" Gear that the Warriors own.

Well there are other teams that I like casually, such as the Colts and Celtics, but only casually. I think roller needs to quit referring to Colorado as "my Buffs" when you hardly ever speak about them. The only teams you should be referring to as your team are the Raiders, A's, Lakers, Bruins, Sharks, and I think that's it. Not the Dodgers though! But you like Virginia Tech and Purdue because they're engineering schools? You truly are a nerd, haha
And Melisa, you can be a diehard fan of WKU football, but my god, they really suck! Worst team in Division I-A, that's out of 120 teams!

Another blame you need to put in is ESPN. It's a reason to have west coast pride after all the crap and East Coast bias there is. That's why I like the NL West division with the exception of the SF Giants.
Just like ESPN keeps talking Tiger Woods, they always talk East Coast teams and it sickens me.
Blame all the hatred coming from the media and other fans.
My parents own some Dodger stuff from the 1960s of Drysdale and Koufax days. It's not like they're a new team I started liking because Manny came over. Remember when I said I like Asians? The Dodgers have had the most asians in their history compared to other baseball teams. Whether it was the days of Hideo Nomo to the days of Hiroki Kuroda.

ESPN only talks about the elite athletes or ones that they can dramatize. The East Coast bias for people is normal though considering West Coast games don't conclude till about 1am ET. Not many people stay up that late.

ESPN only wants to talk about the big time teams and big time athletes like Whale said. I change the channel and all they talk about are the Cowboys, Lakers, Notre Dame, Florida, pretty much all Boston and New York teams. There is a major east coast bias, but even the west coast gets more love than the Midwest! haha

I will always love Lidge for what he did last year. We wouldn't have made the playoffs without him. 48/48 in saves. This year though has been unbelievable for him. 11 blown saves. He cannot be the closer going into the playoffs. Maybe Brett Myers can come back and do it. We have the team to repeat, but perhaps not the bullpen.
