Indeed, wow. Texas Tech is a dumb university. Funny thing is that if this was another player that nobody cared about he probably would still have his job. But it ended up being Craig James' son, so that was the end.
Interesting how Leach and Mangino are fired for pretty much the exact same reasons, abusing players. They both coached under Bob Stoops on his first staff at Oklahoma, both ran solid offenses, and also neither played Division I football. Well, looks like there are a lot of college football players who can't seem to take a hit.

I don't get the whole Mike Leach saga... (blame me for not following the Big 12 enough)... but What is the point behind this? I don't want ESPN to tell me why.

Well Adam James, a backup wide receiver at Tech who is the son of ESPN's own Craig James, suffered a concussion during a Texas Tech practice. Leach believed that Adam was faking the concussion, so as a punishment he made Adam stand in a dark shed for hours and hours. That's a horrible way to discipline a player and that's one of the worst treatments you can get, but I think it's ridiculous for him to get fired for this sole reason. I feel the suspension was fair but Leach wanted to coach the bowl, Craig spoke out and he ended up getting fired.
The main complaint about Mangino was that in his second season he made a player bear crawl across a football field and his hands were severely injured. Both of those punishments are crossing the line, but Mangino got better at disciplining his players, and Leach was probably going to get better. It's all stupid to me.
