That's why they play their major games at Madison Square Garden...

Half of the Big East teams play in NBA arenas. It's pathetic.

Half?
St. John's-MSG (maybe 40%) Seton Hall-Prudential (+50%) Villanova-Wachovia (1,2 games)
Who else Scottie? Stop talking out of your ass!

Georgetown-Verizon Center Marquette-Bradley Center
Plus DePaul plays in Allstate Arena which has the size of an NBA arena, and also is not on campus. So I'm not talking out of my ass, I'm speaking the facts. That is pretty damn close to being half! Big East is pathetic!

Georgetown plays a lot of games on campus and so does Marquette. And if there were more pro-teams in Big 12 country, more teams would play their games there. Just happens the Big East has several teams in NBA markets! Why wouldn't you use Madison Square Garden if its there?
5/16 isn't close to half scottie:p...

8-5=3. Do the math silly, it is fairly close to half. Besides, 16 is way too many teams anyway. And many Big 12 teams play ONE game a year in an NBA arena (OU does in OKC, Texas does in Dallas, etc.) but not all games there.
By the way, Georgetown and Marquette play no games on campus. I guess I know more about the Big East than you:p

Also, the St. John's campus is in Queens, while MSG is in Lower Manhattan, so why use MSG? MSG has a lot of tenants as it is. I don't see your point at all.
You want a real college atmosphere, you go to an arena like Allen Fieldhouse, Cameron Indoor Stadium, Rupp Arena, Breslin Center, Dean Smith Center, or Palestra. But you don't go to any damned NBA arena!

Georgetown and Marquette play plenty of early games on their campus. They also don't have the money to build new facilities on campus when the city they play in has a perfectly fine arena. They also don't have the history of UNC, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky to try and sell their fans to playing at their less than adequate on campus arenas.
Now your issue with St. John's. Do you realize that MSG is only like 8 miles from the St. John's campus? This wouldn't be like Kansas going to Kansas City to play games. Everything in NYC is on top of each other. And how is 5/16 almost half?
And try me with some Big East trivia! I'll wipe the floor with your sorry ass!
I will agree with you on one thing. 16 teams is too large. If this conference split into two conferences, they would help their own cause. More teams would make the tournament then. But since it is a 16 team super conference, they lose 2,3 bids every year because the tourney doesn't want to give them an outrageous number and they all beat the hell out of each other. Georgetown and Notre Dame would have made the tourney out of any other conference last season. Best conference by a mile! Look at what a rebuilding Cuse did to an OVERRATED Cal team tonight.

You do know that half of 16 is 8, right? That's close to half.
Big East trivia, haha. Who cares if the Big East is the best conference? Also, ND and Georgetown lost to the shittiest teams in the Big East (and the bottom of the Big East is worse than the bottom of any other major conference), how would have they done well in other conferences?
Kansas would own that sorry ass conference. Mark my words!

You know 5 of 16 isn't even 33%?
The Big East is always better than the Big 12. ALWAYS! Now Kansas very well may be the best team in the country, but the Big East is always better. Those teams on the bottom of the conference are very good and would have a great chance to make the dance in other conferences. ND and G'Town got lost in their tough Big East schedule, but would have definitely found a way into the dance in another conference. FOR SURE!

Kansas wouldn't own the Big East. They might win it this year in a down year, but they certainly wouldn't own it. Anyone check out Cuse the past few days? Wow!

I'm not the Big East homer like Whale or Fake Dinkins cause Louisville hasn't been in it long, but it is the best conference in the country. The Big 12 has some pretty crappy teams on the bottom too there Scottie and I would take DePaul, South Florida or whomever against Texas Tech, Iowa State, etc. any day.
And Whale is right. These teams in big cities play in those NBA arenas because they are there. Why not take advantage of a 20,000 seat arena when you can. Trust me, the Big 12 teams would use NBA arenas if they had access to them too. Kansas wouldn't, but everyone else in the conference would. And are you saying the Big East doesn't have some historic buildings? How about the Carrier Dome or Freedom Hall?

Okay fine, it's not almost 50%. But still, that's a lot of damn teams no matter what!
Kansas doesn't play the toughest competition in the Big 12. The only other solid teams are Texas and Oklahoma. And are you sure that DePaul is better than Iowa State with Craig Brackins? Hell no dude! Besides, I'm not a Big 12 homer at all, if Kansas is the only team that would make the NCAA Tournament in the Big 12, then I'd be fine with that.
Whale, DePaul and South Florida would do well in other conferences? Get out of here with your biased opinions!
And Sam, I didn't say there are no historic buildings in the Big East. There are some. But why is Louisville leaving Freedom Hall?

I think Sam is saying that those bottom teams are better than your bottom teams. South Florida is actually pretty good. DePaul, despite a horrendous year last year, managed to win a couple games in the Big East Tourney. They look bad because of the schedule they play. Nobody gets a break in the Big East.
And Scottie, can you honestly say that Big 12 teams wouldn't use NBA arenas if they weren't given the chance? Come on!
Go Nova vs. Ole Miss tomorrow =)

No, Big 12 teams wouldn't use the NBA arenas. Why? Because all of the Big 12 teams have high class facilities on their campus that they can just use there. Why should they play in NBA arenas when their own arena is nice enough? If most of those teams played in NBA arenas, more than half of the seats would be empty.
And are you trying to say that if you put USF or DePaul in another conference, they'd be good? If you put USF in the Pac-10, they'd still be awful. Same with DePaul. Don't give me the excuse that they aren't bad because they play in the Big East. Weak shit!
Also, look at the Big Ten. They are the deepest conference this year.
