Jeremy Mayfield got his day in court... and won his right to race.
Mayfield was suspended by NASCAR after testing positive for methamphetamines on May first. Mayfield claimed he never used the drug and the "B" sample was never tested by an independent laboratory.
A US District judge in North Carolina lifted Mayfield's suspension by ruling that. "The harm to Mr. Mayfield significantly outweighs any harm to NASCAR." Judge Graham Mullen said NASCAR can test Mayfield extensively... including hair samples... to determine if he's been a methhead or not.
Mayfield's attorneys argued that he had never shown any characteristics of a meth abuser and because his backup sample was never tested independently.
With this ruling... he could race as soon as Daytona Saturday night... unless NASCAR appeals the decision.
Practice begins Thursday afternoon.

Yes, he should be allowed to race again. Once the courts decide what his punishment is the NASCAR "commissioner" should add to that. But if other people arrested can play again, why not him?

Mayfield Misses Deadline to Enter Car at Daytona
By JENNA FRYER
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -Jeremy Mayfield has missed the deadline to enter his car into Saturday night's race at Daytona International Speedway.
He had an afternoon deadline Thursday to bring the No. 41 Toyota to the track, and it passed with no sign of Mayfield or his race team.
Mayfield's indefinite suspension for a failed drug test was lifted by a federal judge on Wednesday, allowing him to race this weekend. He still can race if another team gives him a seat in a car.
But four team owners who might have considered using Mayfield this weekend have said they aren't interested.
I guess Jeremy won't race this weekend! I don't think anyone wants him to race for them.

Well, if they see him doing drugs with the pit crew before a race, then maybe they shouldn't let him race. I assume he does the meth in his spare time.

Every time I even hear that term it makes me want to squeeze my brain out, haha. I honestly can't stand that "sport." I've been to one race, very boring. Although I thought it was interesting how loud it gets, the race was so boring. Why should we pay to watch 400 freaking laps?

I think Nascar is basically like any sport, you pick a team, follow it throughout the season, and see if the team your rooting for is going to win the championship or not. Take for instance, I follow Jeff Gordon throughout the racing season, hopefully soon he'll win me another championship! So... I suppose if you don't have a team to follow, say like I don't in water polo, then it could be kinda boring!

Looks like Mr Mayfield is on suspension again!
Appeals Court Rules for NASCAR on Mayfield Ban
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Jeremy Mayfield is back under suspension for a failed random drug test after an appeals court ruled in NASCAR's favor Friday, issuing a stay on the injunction that gave the driver the right to return to the race track.
The one-page decision by the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals stands until NASCAR's full appeal can be heard.
NASCAR appealed to the Richmond, Va., court after a federal judge on July 1 lifted Mayfield's suspension based on the argument that the drug testing system was flawed.
U.S. District Court Judge Graham Mullen still has NASCAR's request before him to overturn his earlier decision based on its claim that Mayfield tested positive for methamphetamine a second time on July 6.
Mayfield was suspended May 9 for failing a random test done eight days earlier, and NASCAR has said he tested positive for methamphetamine. Mayfield has denied ever using the illegal drug.
He is not entered in Sunday's race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and has indicated he has no intention of returning to racing as he fights NASCAR. The last remaining employee at Mayfield Motorsports resigned last week, and Mayfield has not entered any events since Mullen's ruling.
"We are pleased with the 4th Circuit Court's ruling to reinstate NASCAR's suspension of Jeremy Mayfield," NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said in a statement. "This is an important decision for NASCAR to make fair and equitable regulations for the safety of competitors and spectators at the track. We will continue to respectfully make our case for as long as the litigation continues."
John Buric, an attorney for Mayfield, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
NASCAR and Mayfield have been locked in a nasty battle since the initial suspension, and there have been multiple court filings by both sides as they've argued their position to Mullen. He agreed with Mayfield that the testing system was not fair because the driver was not allowed to take his backup "B" sample to an independent laboratory as a means of contesting his positive result.
Five days after the injunction was issued, NASCAR asked Mayfield to submit to another test, but it took him seven-plus hours to provide a sample. NASCAR presented evidence to Mullen last week showing Mayfield failed that July 6 test and accused him of intentionally delaying the testing process.
In addition, Mayfield's estranged former stepmother offered sworn testimony that she had witnessed the driver use methamphetamines at least 30 times and that he'd cooked the drug himself until it became too difficult to obtain the ingredients.
Mayfield angrily denied her accusations, and accused NASCAR of paying Lisa Mayfield to lie about him because she was angry he had not given her financial help since his father's 2007 death.
On Tuesday, Mayfield submitted evidence to the court that he'd passed a drug test at an independent lab less than an hour after NASCAR's July 6 test, and said those results are "consistent with my lifestyle as I have not and do not use or abuse methamphetamines.
"It is impossible for methamphetamine to be in my body as I have never consumed that substance," he wrote.
Dr. Harold Schueler of the Broward County (Fla.) Medical Examiner's Office, filed an affidavit on behalf of Mayfield that claimed the levels of methamphetamine in NASCAR's test are "astronomical" and "could be remotely accurate, unless Mr. Mayfield was deceased or a chronic abuser."
(One day he's racing, well not really since he don't have any damn employees left! And the next day he's not!)

Jeremy Methfield.
I'm glad that this story has once again been brought in the news, that way it's still relevant when I get to do my next stand-up comedy show.

I know.. but I kinda have a special place in my heart for NASCAR. I went to the very first Talladega race ever run, also my dad was friends with the Allison brothers who use to race. So I kinda hold a special place in my heart for Nascar.
Not only that, it's beginning to be a soap opera for Jeremy Mayfield, and you know how us women love our soaps!

THE SAGA CONTINUES!!!!
Mayfield sued by his stepmother
The problems for Jeremy Mayfield keep stacking up faster than a 20-car crash at Talladega.
The suspended Sprint Cup driver was sued today by his stepmother, Lisa Mayfield, for public comments he made in regard to his civil case against NASCAR over his flunked drug test. She seeks compensatory and punitive damages in excess of $10,000 in the complaint, filed in Statesville, N.C., ESPN.com reports.
The lawsuit stems from Jeremy Mayfield's remark in an interview with ESPN.com, in which he was reported to have said: "She's basically a whore. She shot and killed my dad."
Lisa Mayfield has testified that she has seen her stepson use methamphetamine at least 30 times since 1998. Jeremy Mayfield has said he has an attorney working on a wrongful death lawsuit in the death of his father, which was ruled a suicide.
(Now you tell me that Nascar isn't getting interesting! Where else can someone get kicked out of their sport,,, not once but twice! Then get sued for calling his step mother a whore!)
It just keeps getting better!

The Mayfield Saga Continues!
Lisa Mayfield accused her NASCAR-driving stepson of being a meth head, so Jeremy Mayfield accused his stepmom of murdering his father. On Saturday, a crazy drunk woman was found trying to break into Jeremy Mayfield's house. Guess who?
Cops were called to Mayfield's property on Saturday night, after neighbors heard someone yelling and banging on the front door. When the arrived they found Lisa Mayfield, drunk as a skunk and threatening everyone in sight.
"According to the officers she was pretty high," Cook said. "The officers took her to jail on public assistance ... to make sure she didn't cause problems to anybody or herself.
The Mayfield Mom also allegedly kicked a couple of the neighbors, one of whom was pregnant, and threatened to come back and kill Jeremy's wife as the cops dragged her way. She was charged with public intoxication, simple assault, and second-degree trespassing. Mayfield still hasn't filed the wrongful death lawsuit that he claims will prove that Lisa killed his father (she has her own countersuit), but this drunken, violent rant won't add a ton of credibility to her claims about her stepson's meth habits.
There's only way to solve this dispute. A reality show. "Methin' With The Mayfields," Tuesday mornings at 4 a.m. on Versus.
