So our good buddy Bill Self goes and visits Xavier Henry last night and some how talks him into staying (according to most sources in Kansas, and apparently ESPN... now that's trustworthy sources!). However, word is that Calipari made it very clear that there was no room for him at the UK Inn which pretty much left him to sleep in the KU stables. Now, that is not exact so don;t quote me, cause some people have said that it came down to... "If he wants to, he can come. It doesn't matter to me one way or another." I just tend to like my version better!! It was a daunting task for Bill Self to pull this off and convince the kid that momma really does know best... I think he even had Alex Legion give him a call yesterday. But this was the big kicker of it all!!! Bill Self brought the starting five from last years KU team to talk to Xavier Henry last night. How is Self a begger here? He wants to keep his prize recruit. All good coaches have to do a great deal of convincing for a kid to go there. How much "begging" do you think Calipari does?

Thank you, see I always knew Louisville fans were smarter than Kentucky fans:p haha.
But pitino4pres is right, he's not begging. He's trying to keep his recruit from leaving (and he didn't leave). If anybody was begging it was Calipari.

There is a huge difference in trying to get a kid to come to your school, than trying to get a kid that has nothing in place that requires him to stay not to leave your school.. To get that done... you can't be to proud to beg (or to sound more professional... overly persuasive in a pleading type manner)

But Self was not begging at all, when Xavier had already committed to KU, I don't see how he'd be begging afterward.

I would have done the same thing. There is no college coach out there that doesn't beg...and quite often I would bet. Bill Self is an incredible coach and I can't find anything to "knock" him about.
